The Seventh National Finite Element Developers' / FEASTSMT Users' Meet (NAFED 07) will be jointly organized by Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC/ISRO) and Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. The one-day meet will be held on April 30th 2023 at IIT Delhi.The objective of the meet is to bring together domain experts and software engineers working in the area of finite element methods and related numerical computational techniques in India.
VSSC has recognized the need to make indigenous products for aerospace applications and embarked on development of finite element software for launch vehicle structural design and analysis over the last three decades. Since 2008, the insights gained in research phase were utilized to redesign a new software which embraces all the features of a commercially available finite element software product. The software includes a state-of-the-art Graphical User Interface based pre and post processor – PreWin and a high-performance finite element solver – FEASTSMT.
This cutting-edge technology is completely an indigenous effort complying with industry standards and needs expertise in engineering mathematics, continuum mechanics, computer hardware and software related technologies. FEASTSMT software is designed based on user requirements for creating finite element models and analysing the results.
The meet will aid in exchange of ideas, which will directly and indirectly contribute to the capability enhancements of PreWin/FEASTSMT software. Meanwhile, memoranda of understanding have been signed and many more are under various stages of collaborative development between VSSC and national institutes such as IITs and research organisations such as DAE to enhance the software features and capabilities.
